These cookies were one of the first things I learnt to bake and started my passion of baking. My mum ran a family daycare when I was little and use to make these all the time with us.
My kids started calling them the magic cookies because you could make so many different t types of cookies. You can add any colour, favouring or topping you like. I make these for the kids to take to school for their birthdays and as gifts for people. They are so simple with just 3 ingredients (unless you want to add others) and you can whip them up so quickly. I often keep some dough in the freeze so when we have some friends drop over of I can pop some in the oven.
All you need is
- 5 cups of flour
- 500g soft butter
- 1 can of condensed milk
Mix together, pop on a tray and cook for 10-15 mins (or till it starts to go golden around the edges) at 180 degrees.
Its that simple, if you would like you can pop the dough into the fridge to chill then roll to out to use cookie cutters, add colours, make little wells on top of your dough drops and add jam, make them as big ornas small as you like. This recipe makes a lot of cookies so feel free to roll half the dough into a ball or a log (good the cutting slices) wrap well in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
